Hua.ngbizhuang Reservoir has operated for more tlian -30 years. On the horizontal blanket and the· foundation of the auxiliary dam cracks often occurred. Laboratory test has been performed to verify the effect of the cracks on the safety of the reservoir and compare different types of geomembranes to strengthen the blanket and prevent piping caused by the cracks in the soil foundation.
