LEGACY, EVOLUTION AND REVOLUTION IN GEOSYNTHETICS
This volume contains the proceedings of the 13th International Conference on Geosynthetics (13 ICG), held at the Palais des congrès de Montréal in Montréal, Québec, Canada, September 13–17, 2026. Published as Volume 740 of E3S Web of Conferences, the open-access proceedings comprise 251 papers, including the published contributions accompanying the 8th Giroud Lecture, the 2nd Rowe Lecture and the 2nd Bathurst Lecture.
Hosted by IGS North America, 13 ICG explored the theme “Legacy, Evolution & Revolution in Geosynthetics.” The theme reflected the transitions occurring within the field, the geosynthetics community’s shared responsibilities to climate and society, and its response to the challenges and opportunities created by these changes.
The papers address a broad range of subjects, including transportation infrastructure; reinforced soil walls, slopes, embankments and foundations; barrier and containment systems; hydraulic and coastal applications; environmental protection and mining; material behavior, testing, durability and installation; sustainability and life-cycle assessment; and emerging digital and analytical approaches.
Together, the proceedings document research, practical experience, case histories and new developments from across the international geosynthetics community. They provide a valuable resource for researchers, practitioners, designers, contractors, manufacturers, educators, students and others working in the broad, innovative and continually evolving field of geosynthetics.
