A preliminary evaluation of infrared thermography (IRT) as a method for nondestructively testing . geomembrane seams is described. IRT will identify nonpenetrating defects within seams and shows potential for broadly assessing seam bond strength, thus potentially obviating the need to destructively test good seams.
