In the 197 ies Soerfjorden on the west coast of Norway was ranked as the third most polluted fjord in the world. The pollution were mainly heavy metals as zink, copper, lead, mercury and cadmium. The sea-bottom was covered of layers of residue from more than 70 years of discharge from the melting-industry. It was not allowed to eat fISh caught in the inner parts of the fjord.
